Acronis to Back up 200 Community Broadcast Radio Stations across Australia

SYDNEY, June 17, 2008 – Acronis® Inc. (www.acronis.com.au), a provider of affordable, scalable storage management and disaster recovery software, today announced that it has been chosen to supply backup and disaster recovery solutions for 200 community broadcast radio stations nationwide for the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), the national representative organisation for community broadcasters.

Acronis will supply multiple licences of Acronis True Image Echo Workstation to community radio stations across Australia as part of the Digital Delivery Network (DDN) project – an enhancement of the CBAA satellite service.

"Each station’s DDN broadcast studio computer operates in real-time – either as a standalone device or within a larger network – storing large amounts of audio and media data ready for live replay. Any system failure would cause huge problems to the radio stations," said Suraj Sahnan, Consultant with Intermedia Communications and Broadcast Strategy for the DDN project.

Due to current funding constraints, it is not possible to supply additional computers to each station for backup or replacement purposes. Therefore, backing up the digital assets on the main computer regularly and being able to recover the information easily and quickly with minimum involvement of IT staff is critical."

The stations previously used a standardised image disk when a computer failed – it would revert the computer to its initial configuration but could not recover all the data. Now with Acronis True Image Echo Workstation, they are able to restore all their systems and data onto the same or different hardware in only a few minutes, which reduces system downtime dramatically and helps guarantee programs being available to air on time.

"Acronis True Image Echo Workstation proved to be the most comprehensive solution, offering a user-friendly and intuitive interface with superior performance, features, support and value for money. It will enable each station within the CBAA network to be responsible for its own backup and recovery procedures – reducing the strain on resources outside the broadcast station and improving the performance and management of the broadcast infrastructure of each station," he added.

Bill Taylor-Mountford, General Manager of Acronis Australia and New Zealand, said "CBAA is a significant business win for us. We are very glad that CBAA has chosen our latest business-class offering, Acronis True Image Echo, as the backup and recovery solution for 200 radio stations in Australia. Due to the real-time requirements of broadcasting, this customer win is the best proof of the reliability of Acronis’ products and a great recognition of our strength in the local market."
